LIBRARY DEPARTMENT The
Library is located on the first and second floors of the Learning Resources
Center. This department has a well-rounded collection of materials. These
materials include books, periodicals, microforms and CD-ROM applications.
The book collection, periodicals and encyclopedias can be accessed through
the online
public access catalog.
In addition the library offers free internet access to LATTC students.
Online
databases, books, reference materials, periodicals, and information from
the internet - the tools you need to succeed are all available in the
Library. One of the reference librarians will help you find information
you need. You can study in our quiet individual study areas and small
groups can use our study rooms. The library faculty (librarians) are available to instruct students in developing research skills, which will enable them to succeed in their course work and their life skills as well as their personal interests. Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 1:00
p.m., Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., closed Sundays and school holidays.
Students must obtain a valid student identification card to qualify for
library borrowing privileges. Loan periods are two weeks for regular circulating
books and one week for selected reserve materials. Students may check
out materials from the Circulation Counter located on the first floor

LEARNING SKILLS CENTER College Tutoring Center: Tutoring is available free to all college students enrolled at Trade-Tech. Assistance to students taking academic and vocational classes is usually conducted in a small group format. Student may come to Building C, Room 100 to schedule appointments and pick up the necessary forms. Phone (213) 763-3738. Instructional Resources Laboratory: Located on the second floor of the Learning Resources Center Phone (213) 763-3974, the Instructional Resources Laboratory has reading, writing, mathematics and study skill materials. Audiocassettes, videotapes and Language Masters are available. Materials may not be checked out but may be used in the laboratory during open hours.
Center for the Advancement of Teaching with Technology/Instructional Media Services: C.A.T.T. and Media Services are located on the second floor southeast corner of the LRC in room L-220, Phone (213) 763-3985 Audiovisual Repair and distribution is located in room M-174 Phone (213) 763-3684, and the Television Studio and Videoconferencing Center is located in the LRC Basement in room L-014. AV equipment checkout and repair services for the entire College are available through the Electronics Technician. Comprehensive services related to all forms of educational technology are available through C.A.T.T. C.A.T.T. provides CONSULTATION and ENCOURAGEMENT to the entire college community about instructional technologies for learning and communication. C.A.T.T. was founded from a GRANT from the Fund for Instructional Improvement. The center actively seeks technology development grants and assists others in writing for monies to strengthen educational technology resources for L.A. Trade-Tech College. TELEVISION services makes recording of the most important instructional events, activities, and speakers as well as public relations and recruitment videos. Recordings are made to stimulate continuous improvement of instruction and college activities. The center maintains a well-equipped post-production or video editing facility. C.A.T.T. staff operates the grand Theater for instructional events of the College for such as: Gold Thimble, Dance Concerts, Tools for Success, Graduations, and other significant occasions. In addition, C.A.T.T. provides a LABORATORY where instructors are coached and assisted in the creation of instructional materials that incorporate technology. Instructors receive help and training on digital technologies such as multimedia production or preparing materials for the world wide web. A professional photographer and artist are also available to support instructional and publicity needs of the college. C.A.T.T. encourages and facilitates a "do it yourself" atmosphere to promote prompt service and efficiency in Center productivity. C.A.T.T.
assists patrons with planning and successful completion of satellite or
CODEC based VIDEOCONFERENCING. STUDENTS are assisted with a variety of
instructional aids such as videotapes and audiotapes for home use or study.
C.A.T.T. also supports numerous student events held throughout the calendar
year. C.A.T.T. seeks your interest and is proud to serve the college. POLICY FOR RESPONSIBLE COMPUTING USE: The Los Angeles Community College District and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College provide computing facilities (computers, networks, software and computerized records) for use by students and college personnel to facilitate education, research, academic development and service to the public. Each individual user of these facilities is expected to do so responsibly, to use computing resources ethically, to respect the rights and privacy of others, and to use computing facilities so as not to violate copyright or patent protections or license agreements. College computing facilities are not to be used for commercial purposes or non-College-related activities without written authorization from the College. The College reserves the right to limit, restrict, or extend computing privileges and access to its information resources as it deems necessary to ensure the rules and regulations of the District and College are followed. Students receive computer lab user guidelines as part of their course information.
